2-Ethylhexanoic Acid is a chemical intermediate used in esters for Polyvinylbutyral film plasticizers and synthetic lubricants, in metal salts for paint dryers, in automotive coolants.
2-Ethylhexanoic Acid
2-Ethylhexanoic Acid is a chemical intermediate used as a compound for example in the production of synthetic lubricants as well oil additives. BASF operates a 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid production plant at its Verbund site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The first of its kind in the ASEAN region and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2016, with a total annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons.
The term “backward integration” explains the benefits of BASF’s Verbund concept. By linking one plant with another, products and by-products from one plant could serve as a precursor in other plants. With backward integration at BASF PETRONAS Chemical Verbund site, we can secure the raw materials i.e. 2-ethylhexenal, for the production of 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid.
